Torrey Pines Hiking

Rylee has been getting her fair share of hiking in at Torrey Pines.  On this last hike, we walked a little over 3 miles and she didn't fuss one bit.  She just put her head down and fell asleep while in the Bjorn.

Rylee's Blog

Rylee is getting her own blog since I've maxed out the photo capacity on this blog a long time ago.  Starting with a new blog will allow me to post from my iPhone.  Having a blog for her will also keep all my photo posts to a minimum on facebook.  I just can't help myself sometimes!!  So, if you are interested in following bookmark her page:  blundellorama.blogspot.com.

One Month Old

Wow, I can't believe it's been one month since Rylee was born.  We are slowly finding a little rhythm and routine to our days.  Mike will be leaving the house to go back to work next week, so I will be flying solo the next 7 weeks until I go back to work.  This last month has been pretty exciting.  We have discovered that Rylee loves books and we try to read to her every evening.

She also loves bath time.  She will scoot herself down to the level of the water in her tub and try to drink the water.  She gets a little upset when it's time to get out.  She has fake sneezes that are hilarious and we have not been able to get on video yet, because...well...you can't predict when sneezes are coming.  She makes a lot of sounds when she sleeps at night.  At first I would wonder if she was still breathing if I couldn't hear her making any grunts.  Now I'm used to her noises and they don't keep me awake as much.  We take her on beach walks pretty often and she sleeps in her carrier the whole time.  As soon as she gets in the carrier, she crashes out.

She enjoyed all the excitement from March Madness and the company that was over watching all the games.

And her favorite place to sleep is on one of our chests.

Looking forward to learning more about our little Rylee.  Remember to check out her photo album.

Hospital Photos - One Day Old

These photos were taken in our hospital room when Rylee was a day old:

My mom gave me this blanket as it's the one I was brought home in as a baby.

Rylee Briann

After 27 hours of labor, Rylee was born on March 5 at 10:02am. My due date was March 14, but I knew all along she would be about a week early.  One of these days I'll get together a summary of my labor.  Overall, it was a great experience with a little bit of stalling once I got to 8cm.  Mike has been a tremendous partner through everything and we all are enjoying our time together bonding!  She is such a sweetheart...

Love at first sight!

Right after the nurses swaddled and put in her eye ointment.
She weighed 6 lbs 8oz and was 18.6 inches long

36 Week Ultrasound and Non Stress Test

I went in for my 36 week checkup which included an ultrasound to make sure the baby is still growing ok and there is enough amniotic fluid for her.  I was very relieved when the ultrasound technician told us she weighed 6lbs 1oz and was in the 38th percentile for growth.  She also told me that my amniotic fluid was in the normal range.

She tried to get a good picture of her face, but Rylee was hiding pretty well.  We got a little face shot with her eyes and nose.

For a non stress test, I had two straps attached to my belly.  One monitors the baby's heartbeat and movement; the other records contractions in the uterus. They watch the baby's heartbeat on an electronic screen while the contractions are recorded on paper.  I'd read if the baby doesn't move, they would try to nudge her or possibly wake her up with a buzzer, so Mike and I kept talking to her to keep her moving.  After being hooked up to the fetal monitor for 20 minutes, the nurse practitioner came in and looked at the chart and said "wonderful!"

From now until her birth, I will be going in twice a week for these procedures which are part of being diagnosed with gestational diabetes..  I'm confident that we will pass them all with flying colors.  I do not want to be induced or have a c-section.

Baby Shower #2

My coworkers threw together a shower for me as well.  I got some bottles, clothes and a little Sophie!  It's funny that people with little kids know about Sophie the giraffe!

Baby Shower

Mike's coworkers had a baby shower for him.  We got a Bob and lots of clothes!

Megan is due the day after me, so they had a dual shower.

The Bob!  I can't wait to take it for a spin on the beach!

32 Week Ultrasound

I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes about a month ago.  Since then, I have been monitoring the carbs in my diet and testing my blood sugar 4 times a day.  I was a little worried at first and wanted to do whatever it took to make sure I didn't put our baby at risk or put myself at risk for a c-section for having a big baby.  I have been doing very well, however, and my blood sugars are very much in control.  As part of my diagnosis, I have some late ultrasounds scheduled to make sure the baby is doing well and staying within goal of her growth development.  I also have some non-stress tests scheduled and will have to see the doctor twice a week in March instead of once a week.

I was very relieved after the 32 week ultrasound which showed our baby weighing 4.7lbs.  That is considered a pretty average weight.  She is also showing some chubby cheeks and the technician could tell that she already has hair!  I can't wait to meet our little girl and cuddle with her!

My third trimester exercise plan includes lots of beachwalking.
