Mike's Family Reunion

A little late posting, but Mike's family reunion was last month and we flew back for the weekend.  The reunion is held at Mike's family's land outside of Diamond, MO.  We usually try to go canoeing while we are there also.  This year was no exception, but we were almost eaten alive by deer flies this year.  They were so horrible while we were on the river.  Other than that, we had a great weekend seeing family.

Joe and Sarah have started an orchard.  The whole family got to choose their tree.

I'm a fig tree.

I'm excited to post updates to these trees as well when we go back for visits.  To see more photos of the reunion, go to this online album.

Happy Thanksgiving

We hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving.  We spent ours in Missouri visiting Mike's family.  We had some delicious turkey and smoked ham with all the fixins....mmmmm!  We also went to the KU-Missouri football game at Arrowhead on Saturday.  It's a bummer KU lost, but it was a fun day spent with family.

K-Club Weekend

We flew back to Kansas this past weekend for K-Club (Former KU Athletes) weekend at KU. We usually go back for this every year. It's a weekend for Mike to meet up with his former swimmer teammates, as well as other friends living in the area.

Before heading back home, we were able to stop by Brant's house to see his son, Aidan. He's such a cutie!

Mike Completed His First 70.3 Triathalon

Last weekend, Lawrence held the second Ironman 70.3. For those that aren't familiar that's a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and 13.1 mile run. Mike participated and finished in 5 hours and 10 minutes. I was out there to cheer him on all day.
Transition 1 - where they come out of the lake and grab their bike.

Mike and Mike suited up for the swim.

Kansas Visit

We made a weekend trip back to Kansas to go to the last K-State home game. I'm so glad they won, even though there will be no bowl game this year for them...again.

It was perfect timing for this trip as it was my Mom's birthday and we got to meet Brant & Bridget's baby. Aidan was 9 days old when we got there on Fri. He's super adorable.

During our visit back, we also went through Dover, KS and stopped to have some famous pie. I have family from there, so I'd heard about the famous pie maker and that she was in a contest for her pie. However, we didn't realize it was the coconut creme that was her specialty. Mike ordered that one and it was really, really good.
