An Evening in LA

When I think of LA, I think of all the traffic and the smog!  The last couple of times we've gone to LA for a show, we always said, as we were stuck in traffic, that we'd never do it again.  Well, I got an email that Will Ferrell was going to have a show at the Nokia Theatre and I really wanted to go.  I talked Mike into it by telling him we'd take the train and stay the night before taking the train back.  We actually had a fun time!  This was the first time either of us had spent any time in downtown.  Downtown LA is actually pretty quiet, because everyone stays in Hollywood. 

We caught the train in Solana Beach, it's a 2 hour ride to Union Station.

The Nokia Theatre and The Staples Center (across the street from each other) are in the LA Live District area where most of the downtown nightlife is located.  I guess it's a similar concept as the KC Power & Light District.

There was a Clippers game also.

The inside of the Nokia Theatre is ginormous!  View from our seats.  The show raised almost a million dollars which helped benefit both the American Red Cross for Haiti victims and the organization "A Better LA".

Will Ferrell didn't really do any stand up on his own.  He did a few skits with John C. Reilly and introduced his several guests.

We walked to the train station the next day from our hotel and passed the Walt Disney Concert Hall where the Philharmonic play.
