My Cousin Andrew

My cousin, Andrew, was sent to Iraq in December. He's supposed to be there for a year and a half. My uncle, his dad, recently sent the family a poem that he had written for his son. I just wanted to share it with you and let Andrew know he's in our thoughts.

Pray For My Soldier

Please pray for my Soldier, who’s been sent to war,
in a country so far away
Who knows what danger they face,
while proudly serving their country, the US of A

A Soldier takes an oath to serve their country,
at a cost that could be their life
Leaving behind a child,
a husband or a wife

As we go about our day to day lives,
it’s easy to forget about the wars going on over there
For us that have a Soldier over there, we cannot forget,
while a battle uniform they must wear

People complain that the wars are wrong,
and being over there is not right
While my Soldier fights for his life,
both day and night

The Bible talks about wars, and rumors of war,
so this was bound to be
You need to thank a Soldier,
whose job keeps you safe and free

There will be some, whose sacrifice will be their life,
for you and me
Please help to pray, for those who die,
in Gods arms they will be

We spend time complaining about Politicians,
and telling them to bring our Soldiers home
Let us also take time to say how proud we are
of our Soldiers and their sacrifice, whether we think the war is right or wrong

To all Soldiers, I proudly salute your courage and bravery,
and what you do for us
I pray for your safe and soon return, to again set foot on American soil,
whether by plane, train or bus

Please pray for my Soldier, whose been sent to war,
in a country so far away
While proudly serving their country,
God bless the US of A
